Northwest 58th Street Wetland
United States / Miami, Florida
Location ID: #10000254
The site was an old municipal landfill that was opened up in the fifties. In 1991, construction began to close the landfill. The landfill closure brought forth the enhancement of the existing wetlands, which in turn provide ideal habitat for wildlife. Flamingos, coots, ducks and other waterfowl have made the wetlands their home or a feeding and resting location in migratory routes.
